NOLA Trip Day One: The Commander’s Palace

Untitled
This holiday I was blessed to have an opportunity to take a vacation down South to New Orleans!  I know this is a fashion blog, but I thought it would be cool to change it up and add some of my own experiences into the site’s content!

For the 3.5 hour flight, I went with a simple outfit. It’s been pretty windy here in SoCal so a turtleneck, jeans, and bomber jacket was a perfect choice that blends functionality and comfort. Plus, they can be combined with the other pieces I brought in my suitcase.

The flight was a little turbulent, but I was able to at least start the book my girlfriend let me borrow: A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. I don’t have a mind for science so its pretty interesting to understand.

We arrived in New Orleans at about 5:30PM and just relaxed until our dinner reservations at the grand Commander’s Palace. This famous restaurant had a dress code, so (surprising no one) I went all out.

Nothing says elegance like a sharply tailored pinstripe double breasted suit. This one is custom made from Indochino. I’ve since had it altered, but I’ve taken pictures of the original unaltered garment that I will post in due time. Now on with the outfit.

While I love to mix patterns and textures, I felt that this event necessitated a simple outfit. So, I went with a plain white button down and a beige cotton tie. It may be December, but its still humid Louisiana. The linen suit and lightweight tie really helped me keep cool and classy that evening.

This is a fashion blog, but that doesn’t mean I can’t share food right? For dinner, I had a roasted Rack of Lamb that promptly sent me to heaven. Dessert was a pecan pie a la mode, a cheesecake, and a Banana’s Foster. All in all, it was a great day to start the trip.

Can’t wait to share more outfits and food with you guys soon!

Always a pleasure,
